Palm Springs: Round Up

Hi Guys! A couple of weeks ago I went to Palm Springs for a LONG weekend. This was a trip that was years in the making with my best friends from home (PA in the house!). We have all migrated to the West Coast and have been trying to do a girls weekend for what seems like forever, but one thing or another continued to get in the way. Until this year, we finally made it happen! Palm Springs welcomed us with open arms and it did not disappoint!

Some of our favorite moments happened in our home we rented. We found this amazing rental on VRBO. It was hard for us to leave, we can’t say enough amazing things about this place; it was top-notch! We had our own bedroom with bath, a salted swimming pool with attached sauna, fire pits, BBQ and views to die for! We are already planning our next trip back.

When we forced ourselves to leave the house we headed for a day of shopping on El Paseo (the Rodeo Drive of Palm Springs). We embarked on an 8 hour adventure, which began with a leisure lunch at Wilma & Frieda Cafe. This spot came highly recommended to us by several local residents and it lived up to the hype. The restaurant operates on the farm to table model and uses mostly local sources. I would definitely recommend a visit (I hear the breakfast is off the charts good!).

One of my favorite places for shopping was Out of Your Closet Vintage. If you are as much of a vintage gal as me (can’t help it, I’m from Portland), you must make a stop here. This shop offers high-end, quality vintage apparel and accessories. I found this most amazing sequined shift dress that I just knew that if I ever had a pool party in a mid-century atomic ranch, this would be the dress. It was hard to pull me out of here!

Another awesome Vintage shop is Marga’s Repeat Boutique. This is also a stop you should make that is not necessarily the “standard” El Paseo shopping tour, but hey, again, I’m from Portland.

There were many boutiques and art galleries, but honestly, my one of my favorite aspects to Palm Springs was the culinary scene. We asked around and heard the Rooster and the Pig was the best non fussy restaurant in town where the food speaks for itself. We ordered a couple of dishes to share: the brussel sprouts, coconut curry chicken, calamari salad and a shrimp roll. Every bite was perfection! This is a Vietnamese American Beer Bar that was a definite highlight.

After this delectable experience, we ventured to the ACE Hotel for some liquid debauchery, ping-pong and photo booths. They served Underwood Pinot Noir in a can, seriously, in a can; Can you say, “the way to my heart” :).

But, my favorite eating experience was made by my dear friend, Alissa. She surprised us with this delicious egg number with beets and parsnips. Who knew this combination would be so good?

And then she made another morning breakfast like this? I am the luckiest or what?

There were many things we didn’t get to do, as I said, it was hard for us to pull ourselves out of the house; We really are that much fun :) With that said, on our next trip I definitely want to ride the Palm Springs Ariel Tramway and take the Palm Springs Modern Architecture tour.
